ORBITEC Delivers Readout Device for Liquid Crystal-based Chemical Sensors January 2010 The Platypus® Demo Device is a high-fidelity prototype that showcases the use of Platypus’ proprietary liquid crystal-based sensor technology. ORBITEC was hired by Platypus Technologies LLC of Madison, WI to develop a hand-held readout device that measures the changes in the sensor in response to chemical exposure and demonstrates the benefits of a portable chemical detector. The Demo Device is fully functional and represents a major milestone in bringing the product closer to market.
