Ozmens’ SNC Business Areas Again Earn FAA “Diamond Award”

SPARKS, Nev., March 02, 2021 – Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), the global aerospace and national security company owned by Eren and Fatih Ozmen, has once again been recognized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for outstanding commitment to quality, knowledge and safety demonstrated by its Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs). Two of SNC’s business areas that perform aircraft modifications have earned the prestigious “Diamond Award” prize, which is the highest FAA AMT employer award given. It marks the 11th award for the Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area based in Herndon, Virginia, and 10th consecutive Diamond Award for the Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR), Aviation and Security (IAS) business area based in Englewood, Colorado.

“Our employees’ diligent participation in these extensive training programs helps SNC ensure that we deliver only the highest quality products and services to our customers,” said Jon Burgoyne, SNC chief operating officer and executive vice president of the IAS business area. “If even one participant had missed a training requirement by just one hour, SNC’s eligibility for this award would have been eliminated. I want to thank all of our maintenance technicians for their dedication and commitment. This is the kind of hard work that has helped grow SNC’s aircraft operations into the record-setting system it is today.”

Launched in 1991, the AMT Awards provide incentives for maintenance technicians to participate in ongoing training programs individually or through employer programs. Individuals and companies compete to earn one of five award levels with the Diamond Award signifying the highest honor. It requires that 100 percent of a company’s eligible employees earn individual AMT awards during the calendar year. All 178 of SNC’s eligible employees completed all of the individually required aviation maintenance training hours in 2020 to qualify for the award.

“SNC provides training to improve proficiency so SNC’s Repair Stations & Training Departments are starting to collaborate on ways to improve training effectiveness and reduce training costs,” said Phil Baker, SNC’s director of corporate airworthiness. “Even when doing a great job, SNC’s people keep striving to do better.”

SNC began its work in aviation systems more than 50 years ago. It is a leading, prime, manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR systems. The company designs, engineers, builds, integrates, tests and modifies low-cost, turn-key systems, sustaining multi-mission/multi-intelligence flights for numerous aircraft platforms worldwide.
